About Coach

I struggled with my weight at an early age. When I was approaching my 30s, I started to get serious about finally taking control of my health. I came across American Heart Association's Walk to End Stroke program and committed to training for a marathon. In that year and couple years after, I completed multiple 5k's, couple half marathons and a marathon. Approaching my mid 30s, I turned to road cycling and in that time completed a half century, a century ride, and countless personal rides around Orange County. I had a great time training and doing these events; however, nothing resonated deep within me to keep at it for the longhall.

 

Training for events, working with a personal trainer, and the various workouts I tried at the gym helped me lose 30 pounds.

 

Latter 30s had arrived and I hit a plateau. I knew I could lose more and get even healthier, but nothing was working. Then my great friend, Myrah, introduced me to Boogie Box in the winter of 2010. At my first class, I thought, "What did I get myself into?" I didn't understand the names of the moves and I had never done a class like this anywhere. Coach April was great at assuring me that as long as I kept at it, I would eventually get it. And that is exactly what happened. This format is so unique. Combining cardio with strength training to beats you can't help but love! My body loved it. Before I knew it, I was attending classes at 3 different locations. Some days I would double up! My body was changing in ways I couldn't get it to do with traditional workouts at the gym. I lost another 20 pounds and am now back to my high school weight!

 

In the summer of 2012, I was given the opportunity to train with Creator, Dede Barbanti, and now I'm a BBX Fitness Coach serving the area of North Orange County, California (Anaheim, Brea, Buena Park, Cypress, Orange, Placentia, Yorba Linda and beyond).
